Alpine species. Lives in alpine meadows and cliffs in hard-to-reach places. Avoids areas with busy tourist trails.

Strictly plants, Shoots, Bulbs, Roots

Reproduction:

  • Sexual maturity: After 3 hibernations
  • Breeding season: Spring - after waking up from hibernation
  • Gestation period: 33-34 days
  • Number of offspring: 1-8

Species protection:

Not subject to species protection. Tatra Marmot is strictly protected.

Interesting fact:

They are not solitary. They live in family groups of up to 20 individuals.
